The Old Fisherman's Gift

A weathered fisherman shares a secret he has carried for years — the first piece of Captain Sanders' treasure map.

The old fisherman’s map piece looks genuine. Faded ink, careful lines, and markings that actually seem to match the coastline west of Sentinel Hill. No grand promises written on it, just a rough sketch of a cove and a note pointing toward a cluster of rocks further north.

I spent the next few days doing what Gryan wanted. Chased off Defias raiders from a couple of farms, helped move supplies, kept my head down. The work pays poorly, but it’s steady. At least for now.

In the evenings I started following the map. The first location was easy enough to find, a small, hidden cove with a few half-sunken boats and a lot of seabirds. Took me almost a full day of searching among the rocks before I found it: a small, watertight metal tube wedged into a crack.

Inside was another piece of the map… and a short, handwritten note.

It didn’t speak of any grand treasure. Just a simple direction:

"Next marker lies where the old lighthouse once stood. Mind the tides."

No dramatic promises. No “the real prize”. Just another step.

I’m starting to think this might actually be real.

Or at least real enough to keep me in Westfall a little longer.
